读到一篇关于 MAGA Movement 的帖子，挺有意思，说是关于 MAGA，其实是对“运动”这个词的联想。白话文运动，五四运动，三反、五反运动，反种族歧视运动，蜜兔运动，黑命贵运动，古今中外，层出不穷。运动的直接表现就是乱，乱到了不可收拾的程度就是革命。武王伐纣，法国大革命，辛亥革命，十月革命，无产阶级文化大革命，不一而足。运动和革命的性质与结果由历史去鉴定，可倒霉的往往是处于运动和革命漩涡里的人，特别是那些平民百姓，流离失所，饥寒交迫，家破人亡。最好的结果，人人都跟乌眼鸡似的，谁看谁都不顺眼。
于是，老师对着那个不听讲的学生喊道：干什么呢？专心听课！家长开始找家里的那条戒尺，准备学生回家就揍他一顿！最让人无语的是，参加实验的孩子说：这能帮助我更好地在教室里学习，更好地完成作业。要是鲁迅先生转世，估计又得喊一声：救救孩子！
MAGA, MAGA, “运动了！”这是哪个电影里的台词来着？

明年减税：企业税，小费税，遗产税（这三项和我无关，第一项对我儿子可能有好处）。所得税，要是社保金不交税了，还行，否则，和我这种低收入的人也没什么关系。
明年加税：关税，所有国家的进口关税加至10%；中国的进口关税加至60%；EV的进口关税加至100%。第三项应该和我无关，前两项则可能关系紧密，各类商品，特别是日用商品，物价全面上涨？
帐是这么算的吗？
加税减税，一进一出，几家欢喜几家愁。

要是按孔老夫子的标准，当个君子还是很不容易的。仁义礼智信，谁做得到呀。连他的大弟子颜回听到先生说：要做到“仁”，就得“非礼勿听”后，把耳朵捂起来，不敢出门，生怕听到什么“非礼”的东东。

偶然又看到三体问题：在一个系统中有三个质量相当的天体，它们在相互引力作用下的运动规律。其难点在于它的复杂性和混沌性，即使用现代超级计算机，也无法完美预测三体系统的长期行为。它揭示了宇宙中许多现象的不可预测性，是科学和哲学思考的经典案例。
设想政府效率部是一个系统，川普，马斯克和 Ramaswamy 是其中三个质量相当的天体 … …。太复杂了，这三个天体会不会相撞，什么时候相撞都不可预料，但围绕天体的那些行星和行星上的居民们可要倒霉了，他们要去寻找地球啦。可以和刘老师建议一下，下次《三体》再版时，用我的这个思路，把从文革开始的故事，改成从川总二进宫开始。
从 DOGE 联想到三体，从数字货币联想到七头十角的兽。我这想象力也不错吧？

韩国作家韩江写了本《素食者》，因而获得了今年的诺贝尔文学奖。把书找来读了一遍，哇塞，不变点儿态真得不了诺奖，难怪中国的残雪同学得不到呢。明年我准备给诺奖委员会推荐一个新人，估计能有戏。猜猜那是谁？

The other day, a podcaster discussed the economic policies of both candidates. He expressed some surprise that each candidate plans to use government power to stimulate the U.S. economy, albeit in different ways.
Trump proposes increasing tariffs and using government authority to deport undocumented immigrants. Harris, on the other hand, aims to support small businesses and first-time homebuyers with government funding.
Neither approach aligns perfectly with traditional Republican principles.
Are you on the fence? Does that mean you're leaning towards Trump and his vision of expanding government and presidential power, which could potentially lead to a situation where a leader consolidates power indefinitely?

说起效率，想起一件有趣的往事。
当年在 UniData 工作时，岳明走后，公司从 HP 雇了一个副总来管开发。那兄弟是个美国人和泰国人的后裔，长得跟吴老虎似的。手里有常春藤的学历，简历上有当过大公司部门总管的经验。到了 UniData 后，怎么看这帮土八路怎么不顺眼，想换又换不掉，于是就想个奇招，雇了两人来整顿、提高效率。新人的职称好像就是 Process Optimizer or Process Efficiency Engineer。
九十年代中期的交流工具主要还是电话，不太有效，于是这两位年轻女士第一个月的工作就是拿着个笔记本，到每个人的座位上采访：你是干嘛的，每天的工作是什么，每天花多少时间在工作上，开多少分钟的会，聊多少分钟的天，你觉得公司怎么做才能让你更有效的工作，云云。几天之后，所有的人都烦了，再过几天，大家见面时开始调侃：下午3:17到4:03，你在干什么，是不是又浪费了十分钟？[Smug]
一个月还是两个月以后，那两位自己也烦了，其中之一颠儿了，另一个死活不愿意再当那个 Optimizer，找了个项目写代码去了。
一年以后，在几次拖延工期后，公司让这哥们走路了。

两年多了，我一直在说，川总很有可能二进宫，没想到，噩梦成真了。
四年前，没记错的话，在这我曾转发过鲁迅先生的《论“费厄泼赖”应该缓行》，说：“耸身一摇，将水点洒得人们一身一脸”，没想到，也应验了。
我还不止一次地调侃过，要花纳税人的钱在纽约某监狱建一个临时椭圆形办公室，这个月底纽约的法官要给川总所犯的联邦罪量刑，真心地希望他网开一面，别让我的这个玩笑再成真，那里也有我的钱呀！
为了美国，我也破例向上面闭回眼，双手合十：老天在上，今后四年，保佑美国千万别有什么大灾大难，这位老兄整不来的。求你庇护，阿弥陀佛，上帝保佑，无量天尊，到时候我给你买糖吃🙏🙏🙏

Congratulations, my Republican friends. One obvious positive outcome of Trump winning the election is that there will be no immediate insurrection, and the transfer of power will occur peacefully. However, I’m concerned that many unfortunate events could arise over the next four years, such as impeachments, protests, and shouting matches in Congress. I believe it will be difficult to see any bipartisan ideas, proposals, or legislation.
As for me, I'm fairly certain Trump will try to secure another term, but I don't believe he will succeed. This phase will be over in four years, and I expect that things will return to normal afterward.
The stock market will do what it does, regardless — just my two cents.

民主党支持新能源工业的政策大概不会因马斯克挺川而变。
共和党对新能源工业的政策却可能因马斯克挺川而有所变通，至少有可能在对新能源汽车降维打击的时候对他网开一面。
所以不管明天谁将问鼎中原，对马斯克来说，挺川是个双赢，甚至是个一本万利的买卖，何乐而不为呢。
摇旗呐喊，站脚助威，用个耳熟能详的短语：it makes sense。

有个网站叫 Quora，有人管它叫美国“知乎”，是个生活小百科类的平台。上面有各种奇葩的问题，还有更奇葩的回答和讨论。比如你要是看见邻居在院里种大麻应不应该报警，答案是，可以，但你得小心邻居的律师来找你的麻烦。
这种问题一看一乐，但有些问题确实和日常生活相关。前两天看见一个问题，就觉得挺有意思。答案有点儿长，但还是看完了，和我以前知道的不一样，可不知道是否准确。
注意哈，这是个问题，不是一个想引火烧身的观点。
Question：
“Do Harris voters know she wants to tax unrealized capital meaning if you own your house and the value goes up you have to pay taxes on the increased value even though it may go back down later?”
Answer：
This is not what Harris means when she says she want to tax unrealized capital gains. She isn’t going after people who purchase stock and then sit on it till retirement.
She is going after wealthy people who get paid in stock to avoid income taxes. Then get loans out and use the stock as collateral to secure low APR rates. Then using the payments to these loans to deduct from their tax liability.
This issue with being paid in stock (not buying stock) is you shouldn't be allowed to claim its untaxable income, while at the same time using it as collateral for loan.
For example, if a large amount of my compensation is paid in stock and I use that stock to secure a $10 million loan then that effectively means that stock is worth $10 million dollars over the length of the loan. I should have to pay tax on that $10 million dollars as it is part of my income. Instead i’m not taxed a single penny on the stock but I can use that $10 million to my financial benefit.
No other non-monetary compensation gets excluded from income. For example, if I was paid in cars I’d have to pay income tax on the value of those cars. Even being paid in gift cards are taxed.
The whole premises on not taxing stock as part of compensation was that it would be taxed when the person sold it. The problem is the wealthy have created an entire system where they never have to sell any stock but get to use those stock as a type of currency. This way they get to avoid millions if not billions in tax liability, while everyone else gets taxed on every single cent they earn.

这礼拜终于找到时间让学生在课堂上做了那道“画蛇添足”的多项选择题。看来我没有错估学生们的中文水平，但低估了他们的理解能力。有好几个选了“开玩笑”。为了确认他们找到了笑点，我还和他们讨论了一下为什么要选那个答案。他们虽然不会“用顾左右而言他”这么高级的成语，但说出来笑点在：小琴知道那个成语，但不想认错，于是用故事里不相干的情节来打岔。
给他们点赞👍。

这些天，到处都是非黑即白，情绪激动，措辞极端，真伪难辨的文章、帖子，不管多复杂的政见，要么被打翻在地，再踏上一万只脚，永世不得翻身；要么被捧上九天，再配上耀眼的光环，让万民敬仰。
今天看到一个视频，有点儿标题党，说美国大选，其实是在说共和党和民主党经济政策的主要区别，民主党或共和党胜选，对美国经济在短期内会有什么影响。视频不长，内容挺多，但梳理得挺清楚，终于看到一个心平气和地讲话，深入浅出地分析问题的视频。
